    cd boot problems

my friend has inherited a pentium 133 with 32mb of ram and wants linux on it, but when we put the cd rom(cd-rw) and it doesnt boot the cd, but it booted his win95 cd fine, so i thought old cd rom might not read cd-r's. we put in a new cdrom and it still doesnt boot the cd-rs. anyone have suggestions?

Windows 95 didnt, but 98 onward did. Now, SOME, and I mean not-many-some, rescue cds that inlcuded 95 did boot of the disc (HP comes to mind).
