    I guess I need to understand the current model for video card (or any hardware, really) drivers. I'm know that Nvidia and ATI put out their own Linux drivers, but then there are some third-party drivers out there as well (are these reverse engineered, or what?). I could see where open-source hardware drivers would be a huge help, but I know that the card manufactures guard their secrets with almost military tenacity...

    personally the cards from nvidia work great just better whats out there
