Get an antivirus.
Hi,
How do i check or scan my BIOS to see whether or not i have a virus hidden in my BIOS?? I have Compaq OEM motherboard with Intel 816 chipset. I also did a search on google and this is what i found.

I don't know the version for my BIOS. I got the CPQFlash but i don't know where to get the BIOS upgrade code from or the flash already has the code with it. Thanx for any help.
I have a question about anti virus software.
Do i need to download it every time i re-install XP or something similar or if i do have a BIOS virus will it completely takes it out so when i do re-install again in the future i won't have any viruses?? I'm downloading the one from computing.net
I couldn't find out how to use F-Prot to scan my BIOS. I did scan my hard drive.
C;\WINDOWS\system32\Mblast.exe
Infection: W32/Mblast.A
That what was infected on my drive. I still want to do a search on my BIOS if i can but didn't see any options for it.
Just use Norton or Trend Micro and do a system scan.
Let's start off with this question about this topic.
Did yourself trickster, cloverm or one of the mods turned off the e-mail notifications on this topic?? Every time i check the box that says "Check this if you with to be notified of replies to this topic." Never had the problem before. Do you think you can edit this topic and turn on the e-mail notifications for this BIOS topic??
Well anyway. I downloaded Norton Antivirus 2004 for the link you gave me and the something was infected that i posted above. Thanks.
I don't think anyone has done that.
If you found the virus, and it cleaned it, I'd say you need to keep an antivirus on your computer. The Norton you downloaded is a 15-day trial. Either buy one or get a free one from Download.com.
