Hi,
I installed FreeBSD 5.2 after it was installed. I restart my system with BSD. At login i typed root and then password:
# /stand/./sysinstall (remember the period before the slash).
I went to Configure and set Mouse to Auto. I went to Configure-->XFree86-->xf86cfg -textmode and i set the Mouse Protocol to MouseSystems. (I forgot to edit /etc/X11 file at the command line to change it if i need too)
I went to Configure-->XFree86--XDesktop and i chose GNOME2. I let it install. I restart my system back into BSD.

Good job dsanta!!!
Looks like you might want to run through the xf86cfg -textmode again, and make sure to set everything. Looks like you didn't setup a profile for your settings. Don't worry about the terminology, setting each one in order correctly should get you to an X screen or another error (most likely a mouse error, but probably not. Just common).
Just for your information, when you are doing a command like you did away from it's directory, you don't need to add the "." . Just in the present directory the command is in. For instance.
dsanta# /stand/sysinstall
versus:
dsanta:/stand# ./sysinstall
Master Copy: I really don't understand what you want me to do. I also have a question for you. Are on screamingelectron more then LJR?? You the one that told me on to go about with that. I have a topic similar to this one from a while ago. Let me know so if you want i can over there and help me otherwise i don't have a clue what you want me to do. Thanx.
Run /stand/sysinstall again, and go to Configure, then XFree86, then xf86cfg -textmode. Set you video settings again. If all are set correctly.....<read above>.
I just tried that and configure my video card and monitor and i get the same fatal error as i posted above.
Hi Derek,
I have never used FreeBSED. However, it seems like the XFree86 configuration is very similar to the way it works on Linux.
Try posting your /etc/X11/XFree86 config file (if suh a thing exists.)
