I'm running Redhat 8.0... i just converted from a very frustrating Windows HD crash... So i thought I needed to get away from all the user friendliness and more stabilty...So far after fooling around with RH It's not that bad so i'm gonna drop my vote for RH.
And I was just wondering what is good for the extreme noob and what's the most stable/reliable?
I think Xandros is really good. It has everything installed (flash, java, mp3, RealOne) and to use samba is really really easy just click like 2 buttonsand KDE is very well organized and you dont have the "same" program more then once so no bloat ;D and it's also debian based ;D ;D

What's the advantage to that?
I vote either Fedora or Mandrake. I have used RH but the install is killing me..it's way too hard.. I did a Debian install that was easier than RH...Mandrake 9.2 is sweet and you can use GUI or CLI which ever you prefer. You need to use both moderately...I prefer CLI because I am more of a Command Line person than GUI...Although I do like the new KDE 3.2 ;D;D;D
Fedora has been running great but for the fact that i can't get KDE 3.2 to install on itBut other than that it's been great!

Both Redhat and Fedora use the same installer, Anaconda. That said, unless you're interested in an enterprise linux solution suchas RHEL, stick with Fedora (as that's RH's free version.)
