Mandrake Linux 10 beta 1 released

Release notes:
- Linux Kernel 2.6.1 and 2.4.25pre6
- Glibc 2.3.3 with NPTL support
- XFree86 4.4pre
- KDE 3.2pre
- Mozilla 1.6
- New Mandrake Control Center
- New tool: mdkwebadmin (local lanch of webmin)
- New menu structure which benefited from Club & Cooker suggestions

Known troubles:
- USB doesn't work during installation
- 3D acceleration doesn't work

Okay, I tried this and my review is don't waste your tme on this..

it took me a while to install this without a keyboard attached (no kidding), since USB is broken during the install and I only had one USB to PS/2 converter handy I had to settle for one of them, tried the keyboard but hit a flaw in the installer that made it impossible to regain focus, so mouse it was, figuring that I could setup users and passwords after first boot.

first boot however never happened since it kept complaining about some pivotroot thingy I have no idea what is.

So back to the installer, while amongst the best in the industry it's badly broken in this release - text overlapping images, information overflow (not needed or not updated since 9.2).

You will notice that Mandrake 10 does not sport GNOME 2.6 as the two release plans collided - deeply disappointing.

Surely mandrake has a text only install? What happens if you have obscure hardware and it can't start X at all?

I refuse to install in a less than optimal way - I don't expect a newbie to install using the text based installer, so neither will I.
