hmm... that does seem peculiar to put someone like that in the role... but I must say I'd give someone a chance. After all we've seen comedians do serious stuff and pull it off.
According to IMDB.com funnyman Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean, Black Adder, Johnny English, etc.) is set play the prime evil Voldemort in the next Harry Potter movie, Goblet of Fire.
Casting a funyman to play Voldemort is just wrong, and I want to resist it despite Atkinson being a fine actor I think he's the wrong man for the job - he could get one of the side roles like Bagman.
The Harry Potter movies has had an exellent cast so far, especially Alan Rickman who plays Snape stands out.
This is just WRONG WRONG WRONG !!

I hate Harry Potter. It's boring. ;D
Sorry, I had to say that. It is odd that he would be playing anyone in any of the movies really. I can't see him playing a serious role well. Almost all funny men who try always fail on their first try, not cause they did it poor, but because people expected otherwise.
I love the Potter books, and the movies aren't bad either - very far from being boring, but that's a matter of taste.

BBC Says no Rowan Atkinson.

*sigh of relief*
that is a relief... the movies are a bit of a disappointment in my view. But I'm one of those people who holds books in high regard over movies. I love the Harry Potter books, rather easy to read but still very enjoyable. The movies are worth seeing once or twice if you like the books.
